The US Dept. of Education has a booklet for high school teacher for transition students with disabilities who are interested in postsecondary education.  This question and answer booklet can be ordered through the Dept. of Ed website and will reach you in less than 10 days.  I recommend all high school go to the site and order this free publication.

If you have not visited the National Technical Assistance Center on Transition (NTACT) in a while, I suggest you do it.  It offers evidence-based lesson plan starters at the secondary level. I found several of them to be valuable recourses if you are keeping a Transition Binder.  Here is the link to the Evidence-Based Practices and Predictors page on the NTACT site.

The IRIS Center through Peabody College Vanderbilt University in collaboration with Claremont Graduate University has developed a training module for Secondary Transition: Student-Centered Transition Planning.  It includes student involvement in the IEP process, defines goals and objects of student-centered planning, discusses assessments, how to take a leadership role in IEP meetings, how to engage team members, evaluate progress and more.  If you are looking for a worthy professional development to assist with Secondary Transition here is an opportunity.
